  • DG1032 set to 1MHz, 10mVrms at Zout steps
  • Oscilloscope Vrms calibrated to DG1032
  • Adjust RE for Vin = 10mVrms (Oscilloscope Vrms function)
  • Adjust RL for VC = 6Vdc
  • Measure IE
  • Ideal diode thermal voltage at 300K, kT/q = 25.85mV
  • Measured thermal voltage = 30mV
  • Non-ideal diode thermal voltage, nkT/q, where n = ideality factor.
  • Measured ideality factor = 30/25.85 = 1.16
  • High current error contributions:
    • Transistor temperature rise
    • Solderless breadboard loss
    • DG1032 to breadboard coax loss
